Cupping
Cupping
Cupping is a process of applying glass or plastic suction cups to the skin to help extract stagnation from various areas of the body. Many types of traditional medicine all over the world use it to relieve pain and treat infections.
When the circulation of energy in the body is disrupted, this can lead to disruptions in the circulation of blood or body fluids. Toxic substances can build up in these stagnant pools. If this has happened over a long period of time, or over a short time but with great intensity (for example, after a traumatic injury), it can be difficult for the body to reestablish the appropriate circulatory patterns and to clear the toxicity. It can therefore be advantageous to help the body remove toxins by pulling them out through the skin.
Cupping does result in some bruising, but the bruises typically resolve in approximately 7 days. In most cases, Dr. Smith’s patients report that the relief that they feel after the cupping far outweighs any bruising that occurs during treatment
